MMDA sues QC vice mayoral bet

MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Monday filed charges against a Quezon City councilor who is running for vice mayor and two of her supporters after they allegedly attacked a group of MMDA personnel who were taking down illegally posted campaign materials.
Named in the complaint for grave coercion and direct assault filed by MMDA Legal Service head Rochell Macapili with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office were Janet “Babes” Malaya, the running mate of Rep. Annie Susano, and two of her supporters who remain identified.
Based on the complaint, members of the MMDA’s Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group (SCOG) were taking down campaign materials posted on North Avenue near Elliptical Road at around 11 p.m. on Saturday when a white Toyota Fortuner stopped beside them.
The workers said Malaya alighted from the sport utility vehicle and shouted invectives at them while two of her supporters started shoving them away and even threatened to shoot them.
A police team, however, which was passing by the area, put a stop to the commotion.
MMDA Chair Oscar Inocentes said in a statement that his men were “nearly beaten to death” by the “arrogant and lawless goons of this equally arrogant and lawless candidate.”
“They have yet to be elected but they no longer obey the law. What more if they are already in power?” Inocentes said.
He added that the posters being taken down by the MMDA workers were displayed outside common poster areas designated by the Commission on Elections.
“We will not spare any candidate or party who will be found defying the law,” Inocentes said.
According to him, he has declared war on candidates, local officials, police and barangay personnel who will try to hamper the MMDA’s campaign against illegally posted election paraphernalia in the metropolis.
Sought for comment, Malaya said there was no basis for the case filed against her by the MMDA.
In a phone interview with the Inquirer, Malaya confirmed the North Avenue incident on Saturday although she wondered why she was being singled out by the agency.
“I introduced myself as a councilor when I saw my supporters questioning the MMDA. I asked them why only my posters were being taken down. The MMDA workers told me that [they were just following] orders. Now why only me?” she said.
“Why are they singling me out? Kawawa naman ako. I don’t think I am a violator, if any, there are many other candidates out there who should be charged first,” Malaya added.
She also said that some of the posters on display may not be hers but could have been reproduced by her rivals and posted outside designated poster areas.

Food trip!!

This where we usually eat!! the main reason is of course the taste and its accessible from our house. Me my girlfriend usually go to Mr. Kebab and Behrouz!! but our favorite is behrouz!! hehehe!! nothing we just love the sauce there not too creamy!! but a lot of my friends doesn't love there.. they prefer Mr. kebab.. usually who has the car has the last word!! haha!! nothing i just want to say that you should always experiment with your taste buds!! and be adventurous!! haha!!

this is so funny!! found it on the web!! while surfing!! it is a picture of Herbert Bautista!! tossing a lot of money!! we all know he is facing a plunder case!! about the issue of budget allocation!! its really funny because of the tag line "COMEDY MAN SWAK SA OMBUDSMAN" because all plunder cases are filed in the office of the ombudsman. I hope this issue will not be forgotten!! so that there will be more information on this case or justice for some!!

POSTERS!! where they belong!!

Last Friday April 9, 2010 I met with my friend at commonwealth near St.Peters church and there was Mayoralty forum going on. The candidates present was Janet Malaya who is running for Vice Mayor, Mike Defernsor and Mel Mathay. Their supporters was present and again no show for Herber bautista and as we pass the commonwealth avenue  i saw this poster of Mike Defensor in the middle of the road it was placed on the pink fence me and my friend wasn't able to take a picture of the poster because it s a main highway. As far as i know their posters shouldn't be in that part of the road. Because there's an ordinance that poster are not allowed on main highways. I think that they should look into this. The candidates should advice their supporters to obey the ordinance. Because the little things that we do should make a difference!

What Mel Mathay can really do for us.

I check websites of the mayoral candidates and i want to make a series of articles about their platform so the voters of Quezon City  can have a glimpse of what they are offering.

Let's start with the respected Mel Mathay

Mel Mathay's Advocacy is entitled "MAMAMAYAN MUNA."
 -Running as an independent candidate so that people can choose whom they think is best. MEL MATHAY’s seeks to implement a people-friendly atmosphere in the city government while providing the utmost transparency.

Here is a list of his plans for Quezon City:
1. Expand commercial and business centers similar to EASTWOOD CITY or the METRO CENTRO in Cubao, which he developed during his incumbency, to ensure income generation for the city as well as increase job opportunities.
2.Pursue and expand livelihood programs, small and medium enterprise development.
3.Enhance benefits for teachers as incentives. During MAYOR MEL MATHAY’s incumbency, a P2,000 supplementary allowance was given and is still in effect up to today.
4.Build more classrooms. Class sizes which used to be 80-85 pupils per classroom can be reduced to 45-55 pupils per classroom.
5.Expanding the scholarship programs to include even masteral courses in specialized studies.(hhhmm..interesting...)
6.Expand the coverage of Medicap and Medicare and referral services with the cooperation of both private and public hospitals in the city.
7.Revive the medical hospitalization assistance program at St. Luke’s Hospital.
8.Build more socialized housing with the continuation of the Community Mortgage Plan.
9.Provide livelihood assistance programs. Expanding skills training at the QC Polytechnic University.
10.Enhance programs for various sectors including the elderly, special children, street children and juvenile delinquents.
11.Improve public transactions with the city government involving tax payments, business license and permits processing through one stop and express lanes.
12.Institute anti-corruption measures in government practices through re-training and education of Quezon City Hall personnel on moral and ethical standards.
13.Improve police to population ratio.
14.Build more and rehabilitate inter neighborhood road networks
15.Build more health centers.
16.Install a waste management facility to include flood control.
17.Support the performing arts in the city’s schools, barangays and academic communities.
18.Establish a museum in cooperation with the University of the Philippines.
19.Improve the Amoranto Stadium facilities for sports and athletics.
20.Expand the Youth Sports program.

Short-lived lang ang campaign na ito kasi proyekto pa ito under former mayor Jun Simon na nagpauso ng linyang "I Love Q.C." kaso lang noong mag-eleksyon natalo siya ni Mel Mathay at nauso ang "Smile Q.C." pero ngayon under Mayor Sonny Belmonte ang Q.C. ay hitik na hitik sa slogans na may initials na SB. Meron din palang campaign jingle si Kapteyn Linis..try kong i-recall ang lyrics, maganda siya eh pati ang melody

Rumors!! Rumors!! Rumors!!

I read this article on peoples tonight issued today that Mel Mathay is goin to withdraw from the mayoralty race here in Quezon City. He said that this is a part of a black propaganda campaign being waged against me by my opponent. He also said that "While we denounce the black propaganda against us, we assure the people of Quezon city that we shall conduct a campaign of principles and issues. We shall bring our platform of hope and our promise of progress to the people of Quezon city. We all know that QC is facing a lot of problems and what the people of QC needs is not lies and mudslinging but real solutions and genuine leadership that is according to Mel Mathay as well. Bottom line is, this rumors are not true and Mel Mathay will continue the campaign for the mayoralty of QC.

As i surf through the internet i went to this site know-your-candidates.com and then i compared the
candidates in Quezon city and Makati city. Because most of my years growing up was spent in makati.
So im just wondering kaya ba kilala or tinatawag na "CITY OF STARS" ang QC is because ang dami "celebrity" na candidates. From Herbert Bautista, Aiko Melendez, Ara Mina, Franz Pumaren,  
Alfred Vargas and Butch Francisco. Maybe or Maybe not!! pero syempre in the end our votes will prevail.
Hopefully if they were good on their acting or whatever they do in showbiz. I hope they can
improve QC. I know that, change must come from everyone of us not only for the elected candidates but for me we only need good leaders to follow and to set a good example for the people.

Last monday!! at our basketball court!! i saw this poster/banner.. natawa ako.. kasi for the past 4 years.. ive been playing basketball on that particular court.. last december lang we had our little league.. tapos wala naman poster na ganyan.. i really have nothing against them.. nakakatawa lang kasi malapit na ang election saka nilagay yung poster na to.. nakalagay pa "MALIGAYANG PASKO AT MANIGONG BAGONG TAON" me my friends started joking about this poster!! sabi pa nung isang friend ko.. next nyan "HAPPY VALENTINES".. the things they do for election.. sana meron pa ako makitang ganyan.. haha

Eastwood!! Yay!!!!

haha!! again at eastwood!! last Wednesday we went to eastwood!! la lang!! just to check if its still doing good.. ganon pa rin cozy pa rin yung lugar and has a very good ambiance.. hahaha!! we ate at jacks loft.. chicken fingers, fish bowl iced tea and chicken stir fry!! hahaha!! food trip.. and then i accidentally bumped into my high school friend.. because he works in IBM which is in Eastwood also.. syempre kwentohan.. and he just mentioned eastwood is a initial project prospose by Mel Mathay.. sabi ko pa nga diba taga QC yun?? he laughed and said to me!! ano ka ba?? libis is in QC.. haha.. and then we laughed so hard.. its really a good place to chill out with friends.. thanks jon!! for the info!! haha

This article i found it on the internet saying that boy abunda a known showbiz personality is really supporting Mike Defensor because they are really good friends. it is really not surprising how showbizness can be mixed with politics.

Over Budget!!

i know this issue was address about a month ago.. ang tagal ko na sa qc.. kami pala ang pinakamalaking budget sa buong metro manila.. akala ko makati ang highest sa budget..kaya pala star studded ang election dito syempre nandyan yung dating vice mayor Herbert Bautista at si tol “Mike Defensor” at syempre the comeback kid mayor Mel Mathay.. sana lang talaga yung budget ng qc will be used for greater purposese.. yung mga issues kasi na yung budget daw ng qc was allocated to food and drinks which is good for some reasons pero 6 six years na ako dito sa qc.. san yung food and drinks.. bakit di ko naramdaman.. eh di sana dami na over weight na tao dito sa QC.. hehe.. la lang.. just wondering..

This black saturday!!

Finally nakapag mall na rin!! haha!! we always go to trinoma!! pag my free time.. i love ayala malls!! wala lang tagal din kasi di nakalabas.. tapos ayon.. we ate.. naglakad ng onti.. we checked yung schedule ng cinema.. clash of the titans na kasi.. hahaha.. sayang kung mapapalampas.. me and my girlfriend usually play DOTA.. hahaha.. relaxing daw kasi sabi nya.. saka para lumipas din yung oras.. after playing DOTA.. me and my friends went to dencios sa trinoma pa rin.. syempre while eating dinner one my friend told me that trinoma would not be here.. kung hindi dahil kay mel mathay.. kasi he told me he was the one who initiated this project.. para siguro my ayala malls din ang Quezon city!! haha.. after that we had a great chat about the mayoral candidates here in qc.. "STAR STUDDED" daw.. LOL.. we laughed!! sabi ko nga oo nga no.. after some drinks we part ways.. and again i'll see them next time!!

It is a reunion!!

The younger brother of my friend was graduating from Commonwealth Quezon City High School. The Mayoral candidates was there except for some candidates. The candidates who attended the event were the following Annie Susano, Joy Belmonte, Mel Mathay and Herbert "BISTEK" Bautista. It is a good gesture to our Mayoral candidates to attend this kind of event. Because they can be a good example to the students and someone they look up too. I think this election will be tight as hell this coming May. Thats it!!!!!!

L WORD!!

We lost our championship game!! the bad thing is we didn't gave them a good game!! we just gave them the win!! no excuses!! just disappointed!! not with my teammates but with myself i wish i stepped up!! damn!! just damn!! sorry next season again!!!!!!

Good Morning QC

Just got back from the cathedral shrine of the good shepherd. I attended a mass, it was sponsored by Mayor Mel Mathay and his family. I think they want to start the day with a blessing. Because we all know this is the start of the official campaign for local government and after the mass he gave a speech for the children who are still in elementary. He said to the students don't forget to pray, don't forget to thank your parents and always study hard because the future of our city is in your hands after that speech he was escorted on the way out by his grand daughter "ara mina" on their way to the motorcade. The motorcade will start from the church on the way to fairview and commonwealth. I think the whole District 2 of Quezon city will be visited. I think the motorcade of Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista was there in the commonwealth area as well. May God Bless the candidates and will they have a great time touring our city and i hope we'll have a clean and honest election.

Just wondering

Yesterday i was playing basketball @ paradise village here in Quezon City. Me and most my friends were there. I noticed the big poster of Mayor Sonny Belmonte and His candidate Herbert Bautista and Joy Belmonte. My mom told me that there was a ordinance here in QC that posters are prohibited if its really that big. It really caught my attention because most of the candidates here in QC have the same size but not that large unlike that poster that i was looking at yesterday. I'm just thinking if its prohibited why are they still putting up that kind of ordinance if they themselves are not following it. I'm just wondering how can the people of QC follow the current administration if they themselves are doing right and by the way they implemented that ordinance. I'm just posting this because the poster was really big and catchy and another thing i noticed that outside the village the street lights were not working but there is a post but it don't have any lights at all. So again i hope that who's ever going to be our mayor may look into this issues. Again Just Wondering!!

Mayoral Forum @ Quezon City Sports Club

I was at the Quezon City Sports Club awhile ago to attend the Mayoral Forum. It is a good event to attend because the majority of the candidates were there. The candidates that were present were the following: Mel Mathay, Mike Defensor, Johnny Chang and Annie Rosa Susano. Last March 17, 2010 during the last forum that I attended at QCPU only 2 Mayoral candidates where present I mentioned it at my last post. Herbert Bautista was a no show again. This event was sponsored by the ROTARY CLUB OF MIDTOWN DILIMAN. This Forum was more intense than the last one at QCPU and it is more formal. Of course, there was an open forum and questions were thrown to the candidates. The introduction of the forum was each candidate has 10 minutes to read or present their platform. First was Johnny Chang, he wants to remove the employment permit and to lower the tax here in Quezon City and better benefits for local employees, U-turn slot to be changed and also the public hospital has to improve. Mike Defensor's turn, he wants to have more budget for the educational system and health care system and senior citizens has to have more privileges and benefits. Mel Mathay wants to sustain business policy and he was able to prevent the 300%increase in real property tax, and his target is the non-employment issue that is still high in QC. He really wants to change our city by developing more business sites and wants to have a better education plan for the youth. Annie Susano said that her family was the descendant of "Tandang Sora" and told the audience that they donated their buildings for education and doesn't do this for the money because she loves the people in QC.

The Open forum begun, most of the questions were about education, poverty, crime rate, health care, senior citizen benefits and development of business sites. Mostly their plans for QC is good. The main candidate that stands out amongst the rest for me is The Ex-Mayor Mel Mathay its just because that he sites every thing that he has done and he will improve everything in QC especially  in education, health care, senior citizen benefits, local employment especially public teachers and business development programs for more job opportunities. For me, the forum would be more intense if the current Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista was there because most of the questions are still the on-going problems of QC. But then again, he was not there for the forum. I think it is a great exposure for the candidates so that they can answer the current problems of QC lively and thoroughly and they have to explain why they deserve to be the mayor of QC, the richest city in Metro Manila. I'm just posting this because I really want Quezon City to be in a better administration. So I hope who ever wins this election, he or she can bring Quezon City to new heights. Because this city is so beautiful, all we need is a better leader and a better administration. But of course, the change is still up to the people who lives in QC.  So like the slogan of the political service group, Citizen Change "VOTE OR DIE".

ELECTION 2010: MAYORALTY FORUM

Last March 17, 2010 i was at Quezon City Polytechnic University. I was attending the mayoralty forum and the only candidate present was Mayor Mel Mathay and Sec. Mike Defensor.
The atmosphere was warm both candidates has their own supporters. The guidelines for the forum was the ff. each candidate has 10 min to read their presentation, no subs and no PowerPoint presentation. Mike Defensor was the first on the podium. He’s first topic was education he wants to have a 500 million budget for education and he wants to improve our health care system and he plans to give our senior citizen a privileged. It was Mel mathay’s turn first of his plans for Quezon city was to improve the education system and also said that when he was the mayor of QC he raised the allowances of the policemen and the teachers he also educates us about the automated election, he cites that every platform of a candidate is always good to hear but majority of it is not implemented properly. He also cites that the crisis over food and the increasing crime rate here in QC. He also said vote wisely.

The open forum begins and the first question was address to both candidates the question was as future mayor do you have plans to add more education sites?
Mayor Mel Mathay answered he plans to add more education sites, more allowance to the teachers, improve the designs of the buildings and better education. Mike Defensor’s answer was improve the scholarship program of QCPU(Quezon City Polytechnic University) and improve technological training and increase the budget of QCPU. The second question was what are your plans for QCPU. Mel Mathay answered more allowance for human resource of QCPU. Mike Defensor answered he wants more budget for education and proposes more budget for education and health care. This question was address to Mel Mathay why did you run again for mayor??
He answered the never ending problem in poverty and over population. Another question was for campus maintenance and education system in QCPU, do you plan to build another campus or just maintain the remaining buildings? Mike Defensor answered that the scholars don't need to have a maintaining average grade and just focus for the maintenance of the school buildings. Another question was what about the salary of public teachers? Mel Mathay answered remember i was the one who increase the allowances of policemen and public teachers. So my answer is if i will be your Mayor im going to increase your allowances. Mike Defensor answered if he is elected he will increase the budget of the education and food. Another question was as student population increases whats your plan? Mel Mathay i will adjust to the cost of living of the people here in QC and improve the education system and improvement of the designs of the building. Mike Defensor answered no grade requirement for all scholars because we limit the potential of the student. The next question was how will you deal with crimes and prostitution? Mel Mathay answered that we have to cope up with the drug related problem because we really cant control it and i will provide more opportunities and livelihood program. Mike Defensor answered CCTV cameras on ATM areas and focus on public safety.

So for me basically their plan for Quezon city is to improve the education system and improve our health care system specially for our senior citizen.
